Tech Pack Development

Need help developing a tech pack for your designs?

A tech pack, short for "technical package," is a comprehensive document that designers and manufacturers use to ensure that a product is made according to the specific requirements. It serves as a blueprint for creating an apparel item and includes all the details necessary for production.

A well-prepared tech pack ensures clear communication between the designer and manufacturer, reduces the risk of errors, and helps in maintaining consistency and quality throughout the production process.

What are included in the tech pack:

  • 1. Technical Sketches

Detailed drawings of the garment from various angles (front, back, side) showing all features and design details.

  • 2. Bill of Materials (BOM)

A list of all materials and components needed to create the garment, including fabric, trims, buttons, zippers, and labels. Each item is specified with its exact type, color, supplier, and quantity.

  • 3. Construction Details

Information on how the garment should be assembled, including stitching types, seam types, and finishing techniques.

  • 4. Measurements and Size Specifications

Detailed measurement charts for each size in the range, specifying dimensions for different parts of the garment (e.g., chest width, sleeve length, waist circumference).

  • 5. Colorways and Artwork

Details on color variations for the garment, including Pantone numbers or color codes. Artwork placement and print details are also included if applicable.

  • 6. Labels and Tags

Specifications for any labels, care tags, and brand tags, including their placement and content.

  • 7. Fit and Sample Notes

Information on the desired fit of the garment, along with any notes or comments from fit sessions and sample reviews.

  • 8. Packaging Instructions

Guidelines for how the garment should be packaged, including folding methods, packaging materials, and labeling for shipping.

  • 9. Additional Details

Any other pertinent information that the manufacturer needs to know to produce the garment accurately, such as special treatments (e.g., washing, distressing) and compliance requirements.
